Origins of the Temple of Debod

The Temple of Debod is over 2,000 years old and was originally built in Egypt, near Aswan. Dedicated to the gods Amun and Isis, it was a gift from the Egyptian government to Spain in 1968, as a gesture of gratitude for Spain’s help in preserving other Egyptian monuments that were at risk of being submerged following the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

A Journey Through Time in the Heart of Madrid

What makes the Temple of Debod so unique is the opportunity to experience a piece of Egyptian history in a completely different setting. During your visit, you can admire its architecture and carvings, as well as stroll through its gardens, where the sunset offers breathtaking views of Madrid and the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains.
