The tour start at our office of C/ Escalinata 10.
This tour begins from Opera Square, just in front of the Royal Theater, and goes on to Plaza de
España where we will visit the Monument to Miguel de Cervantes (spanish most popular novelist) and
the popular buildings of Torre Madrid (highest in Europe from 1960/1967) and Edificio España. We will
follow till Templo de Debod, an ancient Egyptian Temple which was dismantled and rebuilt here in
1960, due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
From there, we will visit the Oriente Square, the Felipe IV stunning statue (first equestrian in the world
built on two legs) the Royal Palace and the Cathedral area with the future Royal Collection Museum.
Later, we will know the history of the Church of Santiago (the beggining of the Santiago`s Pilgrim
Route from Madrid) and La Villa Square, with three different buildings from three different centuries:
Torre de los Lujanes, Palacio de Cisneros y Casa de la Villa. We will cross “Codo Street” to arrive to
San Miguel Market.
We will continue the tour and will visit the Plaza Mayor, with almost 400 years of history and first place
used for the Spanish Royal Family as bullring, near by, Puerta del Sol, the real city center with the
popular Km0 signal & the “oso y madroño” icon; following to Alcalá Street the longest in town with good
examples of the local architecture from the begging of the XIXth century.
Ahead, Cibeles fountain, Bank of Spain, Antonio Palacio`s main building and Gran Vía with the popular
Metropolis and Telefónica building representing the “Spanish Broadway” with cinemas, theaters,
shopping centers and one of the most important european night lifes; from Callao Square we will return
to Opera Square where we,ll finish the Segway tour.
