The tour of Retiro Park and the Prado area is the most magical and cultural tour.
We will start the tour at our local in Calle Menendez Pelayo 9, just a few meters from the park. First of all, we will visit the ruins of the Church of San Isidoro (SXIII), the Casita del Pescador, and the “Casa de Fieras”, the main building of the old zoo in Madrid, converted 10 years ago into a library.
We will continue to the colorful Cecilio Rodriguez Gardens, the Rose Garden and the Fallen Angel Statue, to later visit the Velázquez Palace (19th century) and the Crystal Palace, one of the park’s most spectacular buildings; built in 1887 for the Philippine Islands Flora Exhibition.
Later the popular Pond or Lake, with the Monument to King Alfonso XII; We will leave the park crossing the garden of the French Parterre and enter the Del Prado area: beginning with the Casón del Buen Retiro, the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Language and the charismatic Prado Museum. We will cross the Paseo del Prado, visiting the sources of Neptuno, Apolo and Cibeles to finish with one of the icons of our city: the Puerta de Alcalá. Before returning to our starting point, a brief visit to the Casa Árabe, an important cultural center, built 70 years ago.
