Madrid is an artistic city par excellence. Hemingway said of it that “overflows literature, poetry and music so much that it herself is a literary character”. World-class writers have strolled through its streets, it has some of the best art galleries in the world, renowned music festivals, and it is not uncommon to find some filming in progress in the center of the city. In our tour of El Prado and El Retiro you will experience that atmosphere in the Barrio de Las Letras, where Quevedo, Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca or Cervantes are protagonists. From Plaza de Santa Ana, with the Spanish Theater as a witness, we will descend to the Prado Museum, considered the most important museum in the world in European painting, and “the highest concentration of masterpieces per square meter”, with works by Goya, Velázquez, El Greco, Tiziano, Rubens, Rafael, El Bosco … After this, we will pass through the most representative fountains of the capital, works of art in themselves: Cibeles, Neptuno y Apolo; the Ritz and Palace hotels, La Bolsa Palace or the Naval Museum. The city hall of Madrid deserves an obligatory stop, with magnificent views of Calle Alcalá and Gran Vía. After passing through the Puerta de Alcalá, we will arrive at El Retiro, the most famous and beautiful park in the city. If you want to have fun while learning something more about the art of Madrid, this is your tour.
